Murphy’s Creek Tragedy

War chest.

this used to be a house

This woman’s mother was killed by the January flash floods which decimated Murphy’s Creek, and she’d come to clean up her mother’s house. Unfortunately, there was no house left for her to clean up – it’d been swept off its slab and smashed into nearby trees.

While searching through the debris, she found her father’s war medals in a plastic box. Another Murphy’s Creek resident I spoke to told me that an urn containing the same man’s ashes was found, washed 5km downstream.
